I got this tip off of here a few years ago. I haven't been to this site in quite a while, but I thought I'd share this tip. ( I'm sorry if it is old news)
Get yourself some Lee Press on nails. Scrape that tacky, sticky gunk off of them. There are many different sizes to choose from in one pack.
Just put one nail on the inside and one on the back side and hold in place with a paper clip. They look pretty good when dry.
