rogue taxidermy?

Hello,
I was just wondering what people here think of 'rogue taxidermy', or the art of taking animal parts and using them to create new animals, as seen here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NlcIZTFIj8#
. My own feelings are that it's a pretty creative and interesting use of traditional taxidermy methods, but I'd be interested in hearing what professional taxidermists here have to say on the subject.

It all depends on how you look at it. From an artistic stand point, some of it's pretty neat Like Gravity Kills' unicorn posted on the forums here (sorry don't have a link but you should be able to find it quite easily with a search). But for the most part I don't care for it, alot of it IMO is in poor taste and disrespectful to the animal.

I do a lot of Rogue Taxidermy for halloween, but normally I prefer to do traditional taxidermy. People always get a kick out of my creepy critters during Halloween though, and I sell quite a few of them on ebay afterwards. I think its a good way to make use of scrap parts that would ordinarily be thrown away. Here's a couple of the ones i've made:
A mini-demon
A monster squirrel

Personally I don't care for it, but to each his own.
It's kinda like the argument of high fence vs. low fence. They're both legal and both sides have their point of view, but the ones telling the other that they are wrong for judging high fence hunters are in actuality the ones who are wrong for judging a perfectly legal hunting means.
If the specimens are taken and/or obtained by legal means then go for it.
I feel the shock and awe of these mounts are what makes the Taxidermist who screams out against the anti's also cross the line where he will turn on his own. As example, the same person who says a jackelope or squirrel shooting pool is cute will look at one of these creations and say it is disrespectful. His judgement has been obscured by his taste.
As I said, I would not have one of these morbid creations in my home or studio, but I would and will be one of the first people to defend the people who want to

Nicely put Michael P.
Personally I like the oddball stuff. Like the unicorns or the more anthropomorphic stuff. Not much of a Halloween person but hey those talking about respect. Using the parts is better than the trash and it serves a purpose. (to be scary or shocking). Not my cup of tea, but who am I to tell them whats art.

I don't have a problem when it is used to create, or re-create, something that I have HEARD of, even if it is a mythological creature or one that is extinct.
Making monsters just for the sake of making monsters, though ... it does nothing for me, but I wouldn't want to see it prohibited.
To each his own, I guess.

MAN, you saved me a LOT of typing.
I wish it had a better name than ROGUE Taxidermy.....maybe Fantasy Taxidermy. However I think some of that stuff is cool. Funnily enough I HATE swamp boogers, Jackalopes, deer asses and Sheep Owls. I find the HORROR animals more acceptable than the JOKE stuff.
I wouldn't put them in my shop but to each his own.
