Title: Wanted: A BAAAAD Old Coyote Mount
Post by: BlueFrog on May 08, 2013, 08:08:53 PM
You read that right: I want your battered, your dusty, your anatomically wonky. Hair slippage and buggy eyes are assets! The freakier and creepier, the better. If it's too ugly to display but you'd feel guilty discarding it in the trash, consider me. As long as it doesn't smell bad - well, not very bad - I'm interested. The more it looks like the one in the photo, the happier I'll be. Can be a lifesize, pedestal, shoulder, whatever.

You could just buy a regular (bad) coyote mount and shave off all the hair--the fact that it's bald makes it look ridiculously creepy. I'm not sure what exactly happened to the one that I have but it's completely bald!

I figured that shaving would be in order, although I question my ability to get it as completely hairless as yours, AsylumArtwork. That thing is just... beyond words  8)

Looks like it's time for some eBay searches. The last one I stalked, which I thought was absolutely awful, brought a surprisingly high end price. Go figure.

Moth damage turns them bald like that -- here's one that I mounted for a competition, and then sold to a local nature center... and they let moths entirely eat it away before even calling me about the problem :(

Same mount, after extensive moth damage. So, if you decide to buy a mount like this on purpose, please make sure it has no active moth larvae still living on/in it, or you will risk infestation to all other mounts or furs you may own! Before you ask, this one here is NOT available - it was crawling with active bugs and I had to destroy the whole skin after removing it from the form. Pretty sad.

Wow Ellie!  Too bad that one had to be destroyed!  It was a beautiful mount when it was furry, but still a very intriguing mount after the moths got to it!  My bald coyote looks very similar but has no active moth infestation or larvae on it (thank goodness!).

Wow! Thanks for the information, especially those unforgettable graphics. I will most definitely  beware of any bald mounts I might stumble across.

That is the saddest thing I've seen in a while. An award winning beauty being neglected and let to be eaten.  :'(

I agree, a travesty - but I appreciate being educated by it.

In other news, tonight I bought a really horrid mount on eBay to turn into the chupacabra of my nightmares, so technically the search is off (but if anyone has a full mount that's bald or worthy of being turned bald, it's still worth PMing me in case I decide I need a pack)
