The only glue that I have used is Buckeye Supreme. How does it stack up against 555 and the McKenzie glue? I'm not having any problems with it, I just was wondering if yall have tried it as well.
Thanks,
Michael

Can anyone tell me what 555 is made of ? I mean the actual ingredients ? is it PVA based or cellulose based ? I can not get 555 in the UK and am looking for an equivalent.
Thanks

I haven't used the McKenzie glue but I have used Buckeye. The 555 is thnner but much easier to spread, it's about the consistancy of mayo. It doesn't seem to skim over as bad in the bucket as Buckeye does. It sticks and holds just as good, maybe better, than Buckeye.

Look forward to that Bill.
I did mail  the company a while back  but did not get the response I was looking for, the impression I got was they couldn't be bothered to answer my questions.

The 732 is clay-based, mix it per Michael's instructions. I've used it mixed with dextrine, I had mixed results with it. I know some people that love it but I prefer the 555.

You can do what Becky said, and then when you are done with it, get some #555 and you won't have any drumming. As far as comparing to buckeye, I used buckeye for years and it is an excellent adhesive, but I feel the Roman #555 is just as good if not better. The whole point of me relaying the #555 on here is that I was introduced to this stuff by the best wt sculptor in the business, a  guy by the name of Hilton Eppley. He has never steered me wrong on any product and I owe my findings of this exceptional product to him. I thought I would pass this on, just try it, if you don't like it, you can always go back to what you were using. I like the fact that quality is NOT sacrificed here by using it verses say buckeye, and it is more resonable and there is no shipping, plus if you know a contactor, there is another 40%.

I have attached a couple of links for coupons at Sherwin Williams.  $10 of $50 purchase and a 15% off coupon.  Just follow the directions for the 15% off coupon. Hope someone can use these.

I use the dynamite 111 without the additive. I make sure my forms are the correct size and I do not use it on the earliners. I also use a stout rougher on every form. I only use one or two pins around the eyes. Frank.

Bought a gallon of 555 today and it was $21, about half the price of Buckeye plus no shipping.

I get the 555 for about $18 a gallon, and about $82 per 5 gal. But I work for a painting contractor and have accounts at Sherwin Williams. I am going to call our rep at Kelly Moore Paints and find out if they carry the Romans or find me the direct cross-match so I can get it at Kelly Moore. I get good deals with them, we buy all our paints from them.
