Hello Artists and Taxidermy Masters :)

I have degreased a rat skeleton and want to handpaint various parts of it in various colors prior to articulating it. Can anyone recommend the best type of paint to use on bone (would car/model paint or standard oil or acrylic be better)? Also, is there a particular way to prep the bone prior to painting, and what finishing varnish/sealant should be used to preserve the paint and bone after completion?

Thank you in advance! This forum is amazing!
