Near as I can tell from the searches this should fix it.   But I will take any other suggestions.  I have some stop rot but not enough to soak the bird about a quarter of a bottle.

You will be fine with the Dawn & warm water. Then give it a good washing after it is fleshed.

hit it w a water hose on the inside of the skin on jet or center nozzle.

The first thing to go bad in a soak is the scales on the feet, so if skin is burnt and hard keep feet out of soak water or sever at feather line. I've soaked a skin for more than two days and no feather loss.

Great, thanks everyone for the replies.   I wanted to make sure before I tried it.   I removed the legs I did a leg to leg incision.

Scrape the skin while it's wet, that will help.

soak in cold water.....then freeze when wet....skin will expand when freezing...then you can thaw and resoak...it will relax better after the freeze/thaw.........thanks to dave luke for that tip
