I'm going to vegetable tan some skin after its tanned how do I oil it so the leather is soft and with what? preferably something that can be both at a store like walmart or can I make leather soft by just working it and stretching it? This will be right after tanning.

Buy an oil that has been manufactured for that purpose.

Trubond Tanning, McKenzie , Jim Allred, HQ, Research .

"Soft Leather" is a broad subject, with MANY different ways to accomplish. Walmart isn't gonna cut it.
