I had the same problem once. First I checked the seams and cleaned any hide paste that may have gotten on the fur with lacquer thinner.
Then a good brushing sometimes really helps. I got this tip from my wife and it works really good. I put a liberal coat of DEP, hair stying gel on the fur and apply it with my hands in the direction of the hair. You can groom the hide with a brush. After this dries, brush the hide again and this works like a dry shampoo. All the foreign residue turns to a powder and brushes out.You need to really bursh it out good. It softens the hair also makes it smell really good too. Several manufacturers sell their brand of hair styling gel in your catalogs. They work very good and clean the hair.
Godo Luck, Martin.

What you can do is let the cape dry for about 4 days and when
you need to rehydrate the skin to mount just use one of these
products, you can use either, Kemal 4, Relax R, or Protex Pre
Soak. Just follow the instructions and rub hair in soluion. If you
can not let dry and mount wet still then once mounted, use
a sponge with warm water and wipe hair that have excess on
it. Mark

Mount Brite is another product you may wish to try. A number of suppliers, including us (Hide and Beak), carry it. If you don't have our current catalog #119, and would like a copy, visit our web site at www.hidebeak.com, e-mail, or call us at 1-800-777-7916, and ask for one.
