i use a mini flesher on my deer heads and thats all i do is deer heads just take your time because if the blade catches some hanging flesh just right it will pull the hide right into the blade and cut it. i renew my blade every five to seven deer heads. i probably could go more but there not alot of money. good luck.

p.s. if you have 700 to 1000 dollars to spend get a real fleshing machine. they work awesome but if you just do it as a hobby 3-6 heads a year go with the small one.

.........great tool

.....I drove to McKenzie Supply 8 or 9 years ago to get my mini-flesher and have never regretted it. I only do 25 deer a year average but am only on my 2nd blade, and I've had this one 6 years. This blade is still good after 6 years and I'm not even thinking about replacing it yet. I hit some embedded shot in the face of a deer with the 1st one and they dulled it. These blades are serrated and last a long time if you don't hit metal. As for small game, you need to take care as holes do occurr if you're used to doing deer. Important TIP.......Wash hide in dawn(or whatever) and then tumble in hardwood sawdust. The mini-flesher doesn't clog nearly so bad and this process made things so much easier for me. This also works very well for the bench model.......Mike

mini flesher

It's a good product to have. I use it on all big game and some small, racoon, coyote etc. but you have to set the blade depth to do this right.
I have found it best to salt the hide first for 24 hrs. then use the mini flesher on it. It takes every thing off better. It does such a good job that when I sent my Caribou hides to East Coast Tannery to be tanned Eric called me and said they couldn't shave the hides because I shaved them down to much with the mini flesher he quoted. So you can take it from here. Other wise I tan my deer and other hides at home.
