The new Taxidermist/ The new customer....

I`ve been doing taxidermy for about 5 years(fish only) and started
doing mammals a year ago last jan. Business has been very slow and
getting my business going has been slow also----BUT there are many options
for the starter these days thanks to the internet! I`ve got customers
all over the US now with the help of this site and many others like
ebay and taxidermyauctions...when i first started doing taxidermy I
couldn`t get enough critters to skin...the enthusiam was there---and I didn`t
want to get rid of any of my mounts(probably a good thing I didn`t ;).
As time passed I started getting frustrated because I wasn`t getting the work
from outside sources and there was no cash flow at all...So the
wheels started turning---I got a state fur dealers licsense and bought
and trapped 34 bobcats last year. Cats are a pretty hot item in the
taxidermy world...I sold some raw furs to some buddies but have managed
to mount up about 11 or 12 this year and have had pretty good luck
selling them to friends---ebay folks---and other taxidermist...

So where am I going with all this? It`s for the new guys out there who
felt the same frustration I was talking about earlier...there are other
options available untill the clientel starts nocking on the doors..
Keep your enthusiam up and keep looking for ways to sell your work...

A funny thing happens the longer ya keep doing taxidermy---that
attachment ya had to them mounts(ya never wanted to sell) become
less and less till the dollar sighn starts taking over and ya start
selling good quality products to people...then they write ya a e-mail
saying they need another bobcat pedestal ect ect....keep push`n
till ya can`t push no more and always try to improve your quality...

The oppurtunity is there---->>>>
