What can I use for snake hat band liners? How do I secure the two ends together?

Cut a piece of buckskin to the proper size of your hat with about a 4 inch overlap. Taper both ends to a point. With a good contact glue, affix your tanned snake skin to the leather and fold it to the underside of the band. Take a 1 inch japan pin and stick it thrugh the completed hatband from the back side. Bend the pin at about a 30 degree angle so that it will snag the felt in your hat. Press into the hat and wrap the band around. Now carefully place another japan pin in the exposed end, but make sure it is completely hidden in the leather. Bend the exposed pin back at a similar angle and pull taut. Press this last pin through the hatband. Now it overlaps the the band below and leaves a clean finished look to the band.
