I've been doing this for about a year and I think I can make a living doing this, but I don't no where to start my pricing. The better guys in the area are only getting 250-300 for a shoulder mount I'm going in at $300. but I want to get moreI feel I can get $400 or more but I'm afriad I'll chase good customers away or at least hold them off for a couple of years. I've seen most of the taxidermists work in the area and I'm in the worst case equal. I went to some training and seminars, book, videos and have been a advid follower of the forums. and just wanted to know if I'm taking the right apraoch.by starting even and moving up or should I just start at what I want to get. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Get what you think your works worth, and don't worry about the rest.

Start at the very least equal . . .

... to the price of the competitor to whom your works compare. Believe me, if you are better than the rest, it won't take long until you will have to raise your price to cut down on your number of customers.

Remember, ask for more money for your skills rather than accept less money and attempt to make up the difference in more (bulk) work. Keep the quality very high - you will be pleasantly suprised at the number of people who will pay the extra for it.
