Time Running out for my Coon and Fox

Submitted by Dan T on 9/1/00. ( RunningWolf100@aol.com ) 205.188.209.77

I have a Fox and a Raccoon in the pickle for 5 days already.
My order of degreaser has'nt arrived yet(BackOrder)and I have finished
shaving and washing my skins. I need advice as of what kind of
degreaser I can buy locally besides Dawn Dishwasing liquid.
has anyone experimented with household degreasers?
I really do not want to ruin these skins. Please help.
does the Home Depot sells some kind of degreaser or the local
hardware store (I have paint thinner, laquer thinner and turpentine
stored) but rather use something not so strong smelling/flamable
Thanks

different chemical(Laquer thinner,Paint thinner,turpentine or
denatured alchohol) I ask cause I have all of these on hand.

Dan, just check your pH on the pickle

I wouldnt use solvents as a degreaser. Those hides are fine in the pickle if you beamed the fat off of them...

Acetone

Acetone is one of the most volatile of solvents. It may work well, but it's intended for industrial usage where workers wear serious respirators and protective garments. It's vapors, aside from being highly explosive, also cause lung damage. It is also absorbed through the skin and can cause liver damage. This also applies to Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) and to a lesser degree, lacquer thinner. Make sure your shop is insured against fire and explosion before you start warehousing these chemicals inside it.

Thanks Everyone
