Im new at taxidermy and have a question about painting.Ive painted three largemouth bass so far and they came out better than expected.i have a mount that is ten years old and ive stipped it and repainted it today. The problem is the fish has a yellow look to it instead of a green tint.i painted it the same as the others.im using polytranspar paintsi put down the gold then the yellow but it just doesnt turn green.what could be causing this?i noticed after stripping the fish it is alot lighter in value than the other fish i have painted.could this be the problem?do i need to darken the top half of the fish first and then paint it?any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi James. What you may be doing is not using enough green for your fish. Polytranspar has many different greens in opaque and transparent, so don't be afraid to use them. Start off with light color then darken as go. I like to use med green transparent over the yellow then I will darken with different greens, blacks or browns. This will depend on what color I'm trying to achieve. I do not like to paint fish as one color base. Always try to achieve diferent hues. hopr this helps some.
