How do I get a copy of the taxidermy laws for my state (Indiana) and where can I get a good taxidermy record book? I'm just getting started in taxidermy and want to keep good records from the start.

Tom,
The John Rinehart Taxidermy supply company catalog has a good record keeping system.
email me and I can give you the phone number to the Albuquerque, New Mexico Office and they can tell you where to go from there.

Tom,
I am also from Indiana. Have you applied for a license for the state?
When you do they will send a copy of regulations. And if you plan
on doing migratory birds you will need a federal license also. But you must
first have your state license and send a copy when you apply for the federal
license.(except for Ohio where no state license is required) The address for
the federal license is:U.S. Department of the Interior
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
BHW Federal Bldg.,1 Federal Dr.
Migratory Bird Permit Office
Ft. Snelling, MN 55111-4056
The cost for a state license in Indiana is $15.00 per year and the feral
is $25.00 for 3 years.

I too, am starting out in taxidermy. I had the same question and the person was my local wildlife bioliogst. Dean Zimmerman, is that person for north western Indiana. He is from the Lafayette area and so am I. Look in your hunting reg. and the phone numbers are in there for the one in your area. Give them a call, I am sure they will be glad to help. They helped me. good luck, Bob
