I'm looking for some advice on using a this fleshing machine... I've only done a few fox, lynx, and a blk bear..is there a trick on using this w/out making any holes? I have the blade bearly stcking out past the guard...and i'm shaving after i pickle the hides.
Or could it just be that I need to practice, practice practice....

Fine furs(fox, lynx, coyote)are not very good skins to start out on.Practice on some deer.Don't draw down too hard or take long strokes, let the blade do the work. After awhile you will find a "sweet spot"on the wheel.

When fleshing delicate skins try fleshing towards the head starting at the hind and work forward. I find that if you go towards the head you will get less holes or maybe its my imagination. The belly area is the thinnest area of course. Practice and you will get results. Good luck, MarkV.
