REFREEZE OR NOT?

I am VERY new to taxidermy, but also VERY excited about getting started. I have two deer heads in the freezer at this time. Neither are skinned out. Need to know if I can take them out, skin them, then put them back into the freezer. If so, do I need to put DP on them before refreezing. I plan on using DP to mount these heads. Will probably use a tannery in the future, but I have to start out somewhere, right? I know this question is probably redundant to the experienced taxidermist, but your input will be greatly appreciated.

HI Bill,Im also fairly new at taxidermy and am still learning every day,I live up in norhern New York, and the last 10 deer i've received were froze solid ,i thawed them out and skinned them then i put them in the freezer.I also used this procedure last year without any problem.Just make sure that you let them thaw out enough or you'll find yourself sewing holes.Good luckoo

THANK YOU

Thank alot Jeff S. and B. Laughlin for the input on the forum and the e-mail. Just figured out how to tap into the archives and found more answers there. Boy this site sure is handy both for the beginner and the pro. I'm just starting out sort of as a hobby, but I have aspirations of turning it into a fulltime business someday. I just can't figure out why everyone around here is trying to quit taxidermy. It sure seems to me that preserving the memories of the customers hunt would be very satisfying. I'm sure that I will have plenty more questions in the future. THANKS AGAIN!
