It is good to see young people interested in taxidermy. I started out
when I was 13 years old. I am now 31 years old and still learning lots.
If it is possible for you guys try to get your parents to let you
join your state association and see if they will take you to the show.
And by all means take a mount or 2 or even 3 and enter them into the competition.
It is a great learning experience. Do not be dissapointed if you do
not do great just get your critique and try again the next year.

I have heard the term "wholesale work" used in this industry before. Could you please explain basically how that works if you wouldn't mind too much please. Thanks a bunch!

Wholesale is generally work that one taxidermist does for another taxidermist.

The wholesaler does the basic taxidermy work at a discount.

The benefits for the customer(another taxidermist) are that he can catch up on his work if he is running a little behind, and perhaps the wholesaler can mount a particular species better than he can. also, he gets the work done at a discount, and can still make a profit from his customer.

the benefits for the wholesaler are that he usually gets the work in larger quantities, and get a larger, easier to collect payday. he just does the taxidermy work, and the other guy has to deal with the basework, and also deal with the actual customers and collecting all those smaller payments.

usually beneficial for both sides.

Those are kinda the basics.
