Submitted by Wayne on 12/15/00. ( ) 216.63.85.207

I am a new beginner at this art. Can anyone give me advice on which mount or project to start with. Also, can you suggest a beginners video set for me to start with.

First thing I would do is order catalogs from several
supply companies and find you a good video in there...as far as
the specimen to mount---whatever is available to you..coon,yote,
squirrels...I find bobcats one of the easiest critters to flesh,
tan, and mount but I wouldn`t spend a large amount of money buying
a bobcat for your 1st mount...I`d suggest reading through alot of the
threads here in the begginer forum first...good luck to ya and enjoy

Start with whatever type of critter you have the most interest in.(mammal, fish, bird, or reptile)

If you want to start with mammals, I would recommend a squirrel(unless you have something else available). if you start with fish, try a bass first. Birds require a delicate touch, but any duck or pheasant would be a good start.

Good luck

Dave and Travis are right in starting with what you can get your hands on and what you're interested in mounting . I have some squirrels and some other items if you need some animals to practice on.E-mail if interested .
