I caped out 2 deer recently and due to lack of time did not flesh them. I put them in the freezer. These were my first deer I ever caped out. I took the eye to nose measurement and did a short cut from the antlers down the top of the back. How do I get a neck measurment? Will it be OK to order a cape using just the eye to nose measurement and get the smaller neck measurment manikin . Thanks

No, that really won't work right.
If you had just a neck measurement, then you could order just fine.
but there is too much variance in neck size for each eye/nose measurement.
example--a 7 inch e/n measurement(which is common) could correspond with a neck size from 17 inches to 21 inches. those deer could vary in weight from maybe 150 lbs to 210 lbs. that is quite a difference.
you need to thaw the cape out, then lay it on a table so you can see a side profile of your deer. make sure the skin is even, top to bottom, then measure across the neck below the ears. double that measurement for your neck size.
Good luck

Thaw out the cape completely lay it flat on your bench (hair down), lightly stretch the cape then take a measurement across at about 3" down from the ear's. order your manikin with this measurement and it should fit with no problems as long as you have it thinned properly.
Thanks for the information.
