I read an article a few years back, I'm not sure where,
possibly Breakthrough mag.If I remember correctly,they used
a curling iron to work the feathers into the desired
position. It was just a regular curling iron for doing hair.
Hope this points you in the right direction. Have a happy
holiday,Steve
No Secret, here's how I do it:put a heavy [linemans] leather glove on your non-dominant hand, lay the wing you're working on it the gloved hand, borrow the wife's curling iron or break down and buy your own, while applying low to medium heat bend the flight tipsin a rolling motion around the heated curling iron until you've achieved the desired effect. One word to the wise, it may serve you well to try this one one of your own birds until you're comfortable with the process before moving on to customers birds as any time you're exposing feathers to heat there's chance of damage. Play with it until you gauge how much heat, pressure etc is warranted. Happy Holidays and have fun with it, it makes for an incredible life like effect......Kris
that you can accomplish the same desired effect with steam and I know many taxidermists that prefer this method, sort of like the "bondo/earliner" controversy you read so much about on these forums. Again...best of luck to you!
