I'm getting ready to try my first European mount (my first ever attempt at taxidermy). I understand how to clean and bleach the skull but I am not sure how to cut the back of the skull so it will lay flat against the plaque. Is there a proper way to do this as far as how much of the skull needs to be cut off? Or is it just a matter of smoothing the back side up so it will lay flat? Thanks

Jim,
Most folks just take off the lower jaw and boil the skull.
The remaining upper portion of the skull will sit flat
against the plaque.
