I just got back a bear hide from a tannery, and I was wondering if I could get accurate form measurment without rehydrating. I have no measurments at all on this cape.

Never measure a cape from the tannery unless it was wet tanned. But if you need if rehydrate the skin to get your measurements then do. After that just place the cape in the freezer. Lay it down first as flat as possible till the hide is almost frozen. Then you can roll it it up. But it will thaw out faster if you keep it flat.
