I am a beginning taxidermist in Idaho. I have only done birds of my own as a hobby and was wondering who I should contact in order to obtain the needed permits and/or licenses to start my own business. Are the laws in Idaho different than the other states or are the feds regulating all the same? If someone could atleast set me in the right direction it would be very appreciated. Also, where can I find out about up and coming shows and competitions in my area? I would be very interested to attend a conference. Thank you for you time in advance.

Go to the Taxidermy.Net home page and look under associations. You'll find a representative from your state that can tell you about meetings. He can also tell you which district you're in and where to write for a federal license. Just make sure you have the license before you take in any work for money.

The laws in every state are different. Federal laws are the same! Check the government pages in your telephone directory for both state and federal agencies.
