If you are not in a huge hurry why not prepare the cape

salt it and send it out to be tanned.when you get it back simply

rehydrate and mount.I think a person could get a nicer finished

product that will far outlast a preserved skin.Heck most

tanneries thin the hide while tanning.End result a stretchier

cape with less shrinkage during the drying stage.happy mounting

To answer YOUR question, Yes, you can refreeze after readying for mounting. In fact, you can refreeze several times if necessary. If it's only going to be a day or two before you can get around to mounting, lay the cape out flat in the freezer, and bag after it begins to freeze up. This will make it a lot easier and faster to thaw once you're ready to mount, and freezer burn won't be a concern if it's only a couple of days.
