HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!

Submitted by Jenn on 3/4/00. ( ) 63.14.106.144

I finally got my squirrel kit and thawd my squirrel out and skinned it and fleshed it, but when I washed the fur with3/4 of a gallon of water and 1oz. of skin prep I noticed there was hair slippage! Why? I followed directions!! Also I had trouble skining the tail, The bone would'nt come out all the way and broke off inside. The hair was slipping on the tail too. Do I need to get a fresh squirrel instead of a frozen one? And do I use dp and keep it on? The instructions were not too clear about how exactly to go about using the DP. Steps 123? Sorry if this sounds dumb, but I really need some help.

You need to talk to your Supplier!

You really need to talk to your Supplier, the one who makes the Kit. Obviously its not mine, because I dont use DP, but they should be able to straighten out your questions on the steps. As for your squirrel, and losing all that fur after you fleshed it, it may have already gone bad when it was frozen. I know I've shot squirrels and carried them around in my coat bag in the back. And on a warm fall day, it doesnt take long to make them go bad. When I get home and skin them, then flesh, the hair just rubs off. I guess the trick is, if you shoot one - dress it in the field, keep it cool, and then when you get home skin it, or better still - do it in the field. That's the only advice I can give you.

Start over

start with a new squirrel and if you use DP it stays ON before you mount it.
