I just got the Breakthrough Taxidermy intro books. I know there is a lot of information in them, but there is something I do not quiet understand.
Splitting the Ears, It is my understanding that I skin the animal out, then come back with a razor and Split the ears to the edges without cutting through the outside edges (sort of like making an empty sock) Do I have the correct understanding ?
Also, I will trying to mount a coon (Squirrel Seasons out and I have a raccoon in the freezer). In the squirrel book, they did not split the tail. But I used to trap a lot, and I know that there is a lot of fat on a raccoon tail all the up along the tail bone. So do I have to split the tail?
Sorry for such simple questions, but any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Coach

hey coach;; yes you should split the tail if you dont you will have proublems later like cracking or breaking as for splitting the ears when you come back you can just use your fingers to split most of the ears use a scalpal when needed remember split all the way to the edge hope this helps your friend kelly
