First Pheasant

Submitted by Nathan on 3/23/00. ( mhollerich@prodigy.net ) 209.252.105.208

I am attempting my first mount. I skinned, fleshed, washed, and dried a pheasant. I then refroze it to mount later. I froze it dry and have since heard this maybe wasn't a good idea. What is the best way to prepare it to mount now? Thanks.

No Problem

Nathan,
I do this all of the time. I skin and clean several in a day, tumble them and freeze. Make sure they are sealed good in plastic bags. When you are ready to mount, thaw them, finish drying with compressed air and mount. I think they will be fine as long as they are sealed good and aren't in the freezer too long.

Good to go

Nathan
I do the same as Tim. I skin and prepared several skins at a time , tumble them and put them in ziplocks according to size. I then freeze them but never longer than few weeks when I get to them. Im sure you could freeze them longer but I think the key is that you MUST NOT put any borax on them prior to freezing...Good luck...Ken ,
