While turning the ears on a white tail cape I accidently ripped a four inch tear along the seam of the ear. Is this going to be a problem once back from the tannery? Whats the easiest way to repair this?? Whats the best earlining method to use on this ear? I'm getting nervous!!
All you need to do is turn the ears inside out and sew with thin thread. If you're using plastic earliners (my preference) it won't be any problem at all. Just be sure to pre-fit the earliner.
You have a common problem. Just follow Pacemakr's advice and you will be fine. The only thing I have to add is, once you have stitched the ear up, turn it right side out and groom the seam with your needle to pull through any hair that may have been caught in the stitches while sewing.
Good Luck,
Tony

I am having problems. My message does not show up until later in the day when I post something.
All the above are right but what was left out and a pro. taxidermist would do is put a good grade of hide glue on the ear liner then incert the linner into the ear your therad should be strong the hide glue will help it from pulling apart when it starts to dry
