What is the best way to store a commercially tanned cape after you receive it from the tanners. Rehydrate and then freeze? What do you use. Remove ear cartilage before freezing or right before mounting in the future?

If it is dry when you get it back just store it out of your way. If it
is wet then freeze it until you are ready to mount it.

freeze them dry to increase shelf life. Some guys rehydrate and freeze. Some just hang them up or store them on a shelf. I personally think that if you are going to mount them within the year nothing special is required. If you keep them longer than that freeze them.
