I have been doing deer taxidermy for 2 years. I have always used dry preservative from Touchstone Taxidermy Supply.Everything I read about hide preservation is about tanning. What are the advantages of tanning? Why is dry preservative looked down on?
Yes, click search, there are many long threads on this one. If I were you stick with what you know. JC
John, that is excellent advice. No more needs to be said.
Let me just add this....I also DP'd deer for a while with good results, to a point.
I tried tanning, and was even more pleased with the ease of mounting, sewing, less shrinkage, etc.
You might want to try tanning to see if you like it if you are unhappy with your results now,
but there are a lot or powder-jockeys out there doing fine work.
I've seen this question before..........Let the Games Begin.....
have used dry pre. and tanned it myself with lutan, nothing wrong with dry.......
