Just finished a wild boar mount and would like to make it a pedestal
mount but need to know how to finish the back with felt.
With the hide being back there I need to know how to get that smooth look.
And how do you get the felt to stay without see any brads or tack's.
And I'm bleaching the skull with peroxide and magnizium sulfate what
is the best way and how long do you let it sit.
To get that nice even bleach.
Do you paint it or seal it with anything.
Thanks for your time and response to my posted message

Instead of felt backing, use a flocking gun (available at John Rinehart taxidermy supply 1-800-FOR-DEER). Trim the hide even to the edge of the back where you'll want felt. You paint the color, usually black enamal on the back. Then blast black flocking (felt dust) on it while the paint's wet. Then hide the fur/flock edge with a black braded trim. It looks great, no wrinkles or brads. Actually takes about 15 minutes. The flocking comes in green, dark brown, red, light tan, white...
