My ? is this, Can I use 20 mule team borax to preserve a rattle snake
skin? The snake skin will be pinned to a board and hung on a wall.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

and give it a quick wash in lysol water, then rub your borax in. Pin it to your board, wait til it dries, then brush on a couple coats of Mod Podge, or take some clear latex caulk and thin about 50/50 with water. This will prevent scale loss in the future, make sure what you use will dry clear and I would stay far away from elmers for this.
I would do exactly what CB said, but I would add that you DO need to trim and secure the skin to the board after it dries-I would recommend that you hot glue it into place, then proceed with your coating.
Good Luck

I mounted my rattle snake skin on a board and pinned it down, but haven't put anything on it yet. It's been on the board since July 11. If I put some borax on it now, will it still be preserved?
