Monkey Question

A couple of days ago I recieved a call from a zoo that needs to have two monkeys mounted. One is a D'Brazza Guenon, and the other is a Silver Monkey. My question is, When you are skinning and get to the hands, how far do you go? Do I skin up to the joint where the palm meets the finger joints and then inject the fingers, or do I leave the hands alone and inject the whole hand with Preserve-it? The hands are not very big and do not look like they have much muscle in them. Please help me, I've never mounted a monkey before!

Cast them

There are some really great molding and reproduction products out now. I would cast the face hands and feet, grafting and epoxy blending where needed to make these good mounts. John C

Don't Panic just because you haven't done one before. If the hands are
small, you can do it just like your other medium mammals. turn the hands at least to the fingers, further if you can, then rebuild the palm area with clay or sculpting compound, and inject the finger tips.
You'll probably have a tougher time mounting the body--that's the area that will be most unique.

Good Luck
