I am having trouble getting the tail bone out of the tail. What
is the easiest way to do this. I seem to be doing fine on the
rest of the body but keep damaging the tail when I try to
remove the bone. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks

I'm not a teacher, but will give you my best shot. What you are probably doing is trying to invert the tail or turning, rolling the skin off the bone, you can't do that, it is too thin. You can only invert it so far before the skin breaks. What you have to do is invert about 1/2 inch, then grab to base of the tail and at the same time hold the base of the tail skin in place and rip the tail right out. A squirrel is small enough that you may be able to do that without other tools, but if not find something that will help you hold the tail skin in place, such as a pair of pliers or two screwdrivers held tighly together. They do make a tail puller tool that is very helpful in these situations. Just remember you can't roll that skin off the bone, rip it out!
I don't know if ripping it off gives a clear description of this procedure. What you are trying to do is peel the tail bones out of the skin. The tools described will all work but sometimes if they are to badly freezer burned there isn't much hope of this being easy. Sometimes it does help if you spend a few minutes twisting and flexing the tail around. Helps loosen up those membranes. Hope this helps to clarify things a bit.
Hi steve I'm know in the squirrel field to
and have my up and down , But don't stop I've
been mounting squirrel's all week with on problem
I take a large pair of tweezer's and after it stop
pulling I put the tweezer's firm on the tail and on
top of the skin and hold firm and pull the tail out
It work's well for me good luck
