It is 1:30 am in Texas and Im going through the archives on salting while Im pickeling my first bobcat. Everyone is talking about salting on a salting rack. I started thinking :I did'nt do this worng:. I bought the WASCO starter kit and a video by Jan Van Hoesen. On her bobcat tape, she salted and rolled cat in towell and placed in refrigerator for 24 hr. samething next day. This is what I did. Everyone's saying the stiffer the hide not as much slippage. Did'nt take my hide long to rehydrate, but I left it in for 2 hr. anyway. I guess what im asking, DID I DO THIS WRONG. Help please, Thanks for your response!

as long as you did what she said never get a women mad, always listen or you know what. LOL Sorry Jan-greaaaaat Lady.
Any way what we are talking about is that we salt a hide twice and let it dry hard before we do any thing else. Thats why your hide was workable fast. It never got rock hard. All you did was salt it. But hopefully you will be fine.
Next time it's easier if you place the hide on a slight incline and salt. The next day shake off the salt and reapply new salt. Then just hang it so it dries hard. This will take a few days depending on your climate. After it's dry then rehydrate, pickle, neturlize, tan, oil etc. Actually the whole process is in the archives or just get a hold of Bruce Rittel or Mark from Knobloch's. Just click on their name.
