How do I skin out a button buck and what mount do I need to get. I have two, on one they have not jet broken the skin, just pushed it up, on the other they are just barely up about two inches.
Should I order a doe form?
Thanks, S. Sharp

Hello S.Sharp,
There is actually a couple ways that you can go about it.
Skin them out the same way that you would do a doe.
When you get to the buttons, you could actually skin them out. When you go to mounting, I've filled them in with Apoxi-Sculpt. That works well.
I've also covered the buttons up with a towel,as to not damage the skin, and given each button with a hammer. They will bust right off at the base of the skull.Trim off excess bone that might remain at the base of the buttons and apply some Apoxie Sculpt or clay at the base, and go ahead and mount.
As far as a form.......I do know that McKennzie sells a Button Buck mannikin. Its a semi upright and looks real nice.

Good Advice as usual from the Vandyke man.
just wanted to add that Research Mannikins has some nice button buck form in the "first honest whitetail" series. the head is formed correctly with little "nub" bases molded in the form.
good luck
