Dave what do I do now?

I can't finish skinning my cape, I have an emergency. It was frozen, can I freeze it again? I was going to use DP, but if it would help I'll try to tan it. My husband will kill me if I mess up. Got any tips?

But I'm not Dave. Thank goodness LOL. You can do one of two things here. If you can wait till tommorow to skin it then place it back in the fridge. If it will be some time then I wouls say you need to refreeze it. Then thaw it out slowly.

If your going to have it or do it youself tan. I would salt it twice and dry it hard. From there you can have it tanned. By drying it out will help in setting the hair and you may have less troubles.

If your going to use DP. ( which I hate on deer) After you thaw it flesh it the just apply the DP and mount.

I'm not Frank (thank Goodness)lol, but I'm glad he was here to help ya out.
I guess I'm a day late, but you can re-freeze if necessary. just don't over-do it. remember, whenever the skin is not frozen(and this includes the time it takes it to thaw and re-freeze) it is deteriorating. just monitor it while working with it. if you start to notice a funny smell(don't know how to describe, but once you smell it, you'll remember) then expedite the process and get it mounted.

good luck
Dave
