i have done several deer/fish mounts for myself, friends and relatives i have been ''practicing '' for long enough!can anyone help me to find out what's required to collect money[for services rendered] such as licenses,record keeping etc. where should i go to get this info.[offices,web addresses etc.] thanks
Check your taxidermy catalogs. Most have starter programs such as tags, ledgers and checkin sheets that you can note the condition of the hide brought to you and HOW TO record keeping.
Brad, My suggestion is for you to check with yourlocal fish and game department's law enforcement devision, they will be able to tell you their mandates no taxidermists, You will also need to check with your local licencimg agency for a business licence, make sure that it is leagle to opporate an in home business in you area, Then you will need to contact the state and federal department of taxiation to aquire a state and federal tax number, so you can pay your quartly taxes, both sales ( if required by your state), and income taxes. Then and only then should you hang out a shingle. Researck and get all the information in advance, It will save you a lot of headakes in the long run.
