working on my fleshing machine and playing with the sharpening steel and a old hide. If I want the blade to be more aggressive I should increase the angle and less aggressive decrease the angle is that correct?

Thanks

Chuck, that's right. You can also adjust the blade guard to change the thickness of the cut. The thickness of the cut can also be controlled by how and where you move the cape across the guard/blade. If this is your first time, it is a good idea to try it on an old cape until you get the feel for it.

Blade adjustment PROBLEMS

Hi Chuck,

You are headed in the writh direction but many (98%) get it wrong.
After regrinding hundreds of blades, most make the mistake of
over using the write sharpener and toning the lip down to 5, 10 and
15 degrees past horizontal. Such a blade doesn't want to cut. If you
have to use strenght to make it cut, your making this mistake.

Half a degree is sufficient to make your blade cut paper thin. A wood
chisel wants to go out of the wood, turn it arround and it wants to
go in. Your blade is the same. Push it up half a degree and it will
cut much thicker. Most operators, (a few exceptions) have a tendensy
to push it DOWN to much and don't bring it UP enough.

Hope this suggestion can help some of you.
