I think I have done the worst thing any wife could do to her husband. Tell him, ěSure I can mount the biggest deer (11 points) you have ever killed, no problemî and then really mess it up bad (it canít be fixed). I mounted a raccoon and bobcat so I thought if I can do something with four legs, surely I can mount a deer with no legs. I flatter myself. Right off the bat I sliced my finger from knuckle to nail (that was a sign of things to come). If it could go wrong it did. I watched videos from dusk to dawn and thought man I can do that. Ö. But I couldnít and I didnít. When I told my husband, he understood at first. Now, only a few hours later, I ruined a once in a lifetime kill. That really hurt. He said he was going to take the antlers and nail them to the shed. He will not hear of getting another cape. I donít think I have ever felt so bad. Thanks for listening.

to the worst thing a woman could do to her husband. I would appreciate the effort and the thought. Consider yourself one of the best gals around!
No get him a new cape!..*L*...
Chin up,
Will
Why is it ruined? are you sure it is beyond repair, or is it just
beyond your abilities at this time?
I can fix damn near anything.--tell me what is wrong and I'll tell
you if it can be salvaged(although that might require taking it to
an experienced taxidermist)
Until I can respond, place the skin in a freezer, or at least keep it
cold.
Don't give up hope yet!
Dave
Dave is right. No matter how bad it was mounted it may be able to be fixed. The only way would be if you cut the hide to heck.
Where do you live? Maybe by luck you can have a somebody help you out here.
LoL.. the worst thing a wife can do is tell her husband not to hunt! or better yet, say "I don't think I like you cutting all those things up in the house, who's ever gonna pay you to do that crap anyways!" hehe, but then again I guess that's why she's my ex-wife! Good luck Joyce!
Joyce: I admire you for your love for your hubby and for your willingness to try. All is not lost. Matter-of-fact, if you live in MO, just bring it by and I'll mount it up for you , no charge. You will have to pay for the costs though. We can buy a cape and put that thing together right. Don't know any man that'll turn it down after it's mounted and looks nice! He'll cool down eventually. Then, even though he may never admit it, he'll feel like a real butthead. I know this because I'm a married man too! :) I'm pretty booked, but I'm sure we can squeeze it in somewhere. Drop an e-mail. Keep the chin up. ...Rick
I've got about 80 heads to go, and damn if the same thing that happened to Joyce didn't happen to me too! Can I get the same deal ?
If it's free, then it's for me !
My humble apoligies to Joyce, no offense intended :)
Just bring 'em on by. Go to the Quickmart at Tenth and Vine and place them in a box next to the dumpster. I'll pick them up and get them done ASAP. I'll call you when they are ready! :) LOL That's a pretty good one Mick. Happy Mounting. ...Rick
Joyce, we all have to start somewhere. If you are in
the Houston/Pearland area come by and I'll help you.
