Ever do work on shed antlers?

Submitted by James Kinch on 2/10/01. ( ) 161.184.21.53

Hopefully someone out there can help me.

Firstly, I would like to state that I have very little knowledge of taxidermy, so please excuse my ignorance on the subject.

I recently found a pair of shed elk antlers that have been slightly sunbleached and chewed on a bit by mice. Overall the sheds are in pretty good condition...I found them in August, and I believe they were dropped the previous year.

My question is:

*what is the best coloring agent I can get, where can I get it, and how do I apply it to the antlers?

*how can I touch up the chew marks from the mice...is there some type of appoxy or molding clay that will match the ivory tips. How do I use it?

Any information would be appreciated.

JK
