check the archives

There are many types and many opinions out there. I use a Paashe Single Action. I had a double action and gave up trying to control two things (can't chew gum and walk at the same time!) at once. Although, from what I understand you can set a dbl.like a single action and get the best of both worlds. I like the open cups on the paashe for easy/quick cleaning. The Paashe Single with the #3 tip is all I use and I only do fish. IMHO, for what we do anything "finer" is overkill. But, personal preference is a biggie with air brushes. Many folks have valid reasons for choosing another type. I would suggest checking the archives and also try a couple of different brushes if you have the opportunity to do so. If not, research the archives and decide what's important for you. You can't go wrong with any of them. Just don't give up - practice makes better! I suspect if I would've stuck with the dbl. action I would've eventually mastered it. Good Luck!

I agree with marty.
I also prefer the single action paache, with a #3 tip.
it is simple, cheap, easy to use, and versatile.
I have used paaches, badgers, binks, are many others---both single and double actions.

I've tried cheaper brands and brushes also--like the central pneumatics, testors, and cheap, no-name brushes.
none of those can compare to the paache.

I recommend it for anyone starting out.
