Upon demise, at which point in time would a mammal develop yellowish almost hard semi-cooked old yolk on it's underside? I am guessing this was fat. It had a bad smell. It is my understanding that mammal (a cottontail rabbit) was shot, then traveled a lengthy distance, I am assuming, before freezing. I believe that the animal was in a freezer for a long while, but am not sure of that. Specimen was then shipped on a Monday, and arrived on a Wednesday. EWE!
I suspect that it would be a combination of all of these factors, but could someone please tell me more? Is this more likely to occur before freezing, during, or after removal from freezer? Is it more of a result of internal hemorrhaging, or improper care?
And just think ... I am really sloooww at skinning ...
