I started up doing a few mounts in my spare time a couple of years ago and am still very much in the learning stages. A friend of mine brought in a repair job on a wt shoulder mount, some gaps around the antlers. One of the best known taxi shops in my area had done it for him about 4 years ago. My question: It is a full inscision, looks like a commercialy tanned cape- I believe they send everything to the tanners---- but I can't see a stitch of thread in it any where. Am I missing some method of not sewing? All I see are signs of some hide paste.no stitching,Not even around the antler burs. Can the epoxy hide pastes do this good a job . Maybe I am just not up to date on some stuff.(probably a lot of stuff ) Thanks,David

the short incision and you should be able to see some stitches between the antlers and a short way down to the base of the skull.

David,
Sounds like you've found why they're the best known shop around. You've just seen a great job of stitching. I know I'm not that good, but I've seen those that are. It's an another of those arts I have yet to master and I've only been doing this 43 years. LOL
Sorry guys , but this is a long inscision and there is no thread- if you move away the hair , there are some small gaps where you can see right to the form itself. David
they might have used some of the new adhesives that are out there, but i wouldnt put my faith in any adhesive to hold a full length incision together! i sure dont know every thing about everything but i still do the dreaded stitching. best wishes

Look just in from the edges a little, you might have to part the hair, but there's apretty good chance that's what you'll find, I've known of a lot of slap together, high volume shops that use air staplers on everything.
