Hi. I'm new to this hobby, and need to know how to repair a set of artificial antlers that were given to me. They're too nice to discard. Any suggestions?
You can repair artificial antlers much like you would real antlers. find the center of the antler and drill a hole about an inch or inch and a half deep. Make the hole in one side just slightly larger than your threded rod. the hole in the other side should be larger. This will compensate for the hole not being perfect. Bondo in a piece of threded ( 1/4 inch)by about three inches. Once the rod is firmly bondo'd into one side, ( the smaller side) put the pieces together if you can match it up mix some more bondo and fill the hole. If it doesn't match you may need to bend the rod a little or make the hole bigger. Hold the two pieces together until hard. trim the excess. and color. MAGIC SMOOTH actualy adhears better, but you will need a jig to hold the pieces together. It takes longer to harden.
Best of luck
