I am planning on mounting a couple of turkey fans and tanning a couple or timber rattlers if I'm lucky this turkey season. I have been reading the forum to get ideas on what supplies to buy. My begginner book for tanning snakes used puff borax to help with the fleshing. In the bird category I read that all BORAX's are all the same. If powdered, puffed,and 20 mule team borax is NOT the same could someone tell me the diferences and what would work on both?

Powdered Borax and Puffed Borax are the same chemical, just as unpopped popcorn and popped popcorn are the same (chemically). But they are different in structure. The Puffed Borax is lighter weight hollow granules which are filled with air, so it has a much greater volume for the same weight.
