bleaching skulls

I have a steer and horse skull I would like to bleach and preserve. The horse was buried and is dark brown color and the steer was above ground and not so dark. Is there a way to whiten and preserve these or is it too late? Thanks, Chris

Chris-
Find a beauty supply house and get some peroxide toner.
It is used for bleaching hair; buy the cream lotion and the powder carrier.
mix according to directions on package, brush onto skulls with a 2" paintbrush.
WEAR LATEX OR RUBBER GLOVES!
Bag the skulls in plastic, let sit overnight and then rinse with
cold water. if they are white enough to suit you then hang to
air dry for a couple days; when dry seal with clear lacquer.
The brown skull may take a couple of treatments, but usually
they will clean up.

40% peroxide. Spray it and leave in sun it dry. Best way. Don't use household bleach. It mess them up.
