To Dave at Van Dykes

Seems like I always struggle trying to find body forms to fit small animals. A,B,C,D measurements never match the catalog. Right now I'm struggling with a raccoon. What is the most important measurement to get a close fit? Better to get an oversize form and shave down, or undersize that will fit easier?

But can help out here.

I've been there a thousand times and still will end doing the same thing. Go undersize. It's a lot easier to make the bdy the bigger than it would if you have to take it down.

The reason being is if you had got a body that was to big. Now you have to take out all the muscle tones that was put in the form. Now after you get it close to fiting you need to try and put them back in.
By taking a sze form smaller it's a lot easier to make the form bigger and most of all you rarely have to make new muscles. Just reshape what is needed.

When I look for a form I look to see if the nose to eye is close. What I really like to get is a body that is of the correct length and width. This way I have less to alter. Sometimes you might have to alter the whole form. It's part of the business. They can make all the forms we need so we just have to be a little creative at times.

Thanks Frank.

Your advice makes a lot of sense. What do you use to build the body up in the small areas?
