antlers are probably set to high or to far back, measure from burr to back corner of eye before skinning

if it is a whitetail try resetting antlers to 1 3/4inch
burr to eye

Dumb Question

James:

I just want to be sure you mean the upper edge of the actual eye BALL (where it meets the lid) when you refer to measuring from the "eye" to burr.

I set my first antlers last night and it measured 2" from the upper edge of the eye ball to the middle of the burr base.

Is there a "fix" if you end up setting the antlers to far back and end up having too small of a cape which doesn't cover between the eye and burr?

on the actual deer measure from burr to back corner of eye where skin and eye ball meet. on the form measure to back corner of eye orbit.
the only fix i know of is to reset the antlers. good luck with your mount
